Cafe Ambio is a family-owned group of independent cafés set in some of the most picturesque corners of Northern England. With deep roots tracing back to the Southcott family’s hospitality legacy established in 1948, the café group is now in its third generation under Michael and Jonathan Southcott. They continue the tradition of offering delicious food, heartfelt service, and a cosy atmosphere across multiple locations.
Each of our outlets offers its own unique charm while promising the same exceptional quality and friendliness. Find us in these stunning settings:
At Cafe Ambio, we serve freshly prepared food made with care and attention. Start your day with a hearty breakfast, enjoy a steaming cup of espresso crafted using our signature 100% Arabica blend, or indulge in homemade cakes and pastries. Our menu includes open sandwiches, daily specials, soups, and homemade scones—all made with locally sourced ingredients for quality and sustainability.
We aim to create more than just a café; each venue is a place to relax, connect, and enjoy the moment, whether that involves al fresco dining in a courtyard, drinking coffee with forest views, or unwinding in an inviting indoor space.
You can find our cafés in Whinlatter Forest, Backbarrow, Grizedale Forest, Junction 36 in Kendal, and Chorley – Astley Park.
