Quantum Scholars is a leading name in international education recruitment, specialising in connecting high-quality overseas teachers with rewarding teaching opportunities in state schools across England. Since our establishment in 2017, we have built a strong reputation for excellence, professionalism, and personalised support throughout every stage of the recruitment and relocation journey.
Our aim is to attract outstanding teaching professionals from countries that share the UK’s high educational values, enriching English classrooms with diverse perspectives and proven teaching experience. We are passionate about helping international teachers thrive in the UK, both professionally and personally, while also supporting UK-based educators and British teachers returning from abroad.
Quantum Scholars began as an official delivery partner for the UK Department for Education’s international STEM recruitment programme. Our successful participation helped shape a national initiative that placed hundreds of skilled science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teachers into UK schools. Since the programme’s conclusion in 2021, we have expanded our recruitment services across all secondary subjects and into primary education, continuing to attract top teaching talent from around the world.
We understand that relocating to a new country can be daunting, which is why we offer a complete support package for our international candidates. This includes:
Through our partnership with a leading teaching school in England, all new recruits benefit from tailored induction programmes and training to ensure a smooth transition into the UK education system.
Our focus is not just on finding the right job for our candidates, but on enhancing their overall experience in the UK. We encourage teachers to explore the culture, history, and travel opportunities available throughout the UK and Europe. Along the way, they often form lasting friendships and professional networks that support their growth both in and out of the classroom.
Quantum Scholars works in close collaboration with schools to understand their specific staffing needs, providing carefully matched candidates who bring both subject knowledge and cultural value to the classroom. We prioritise quality, safeguarding, and long-term success, ensuring every placement contributes positively to school communities.
Our recruitment services are trusted by headteachers and school leaders for being efficient, transparent, and tailored. Whether schools are looking for subject specialists or dynamic early-career teachers, we provide candidates who are fully vetted, enthusiastic, and prepared to make an immediate impact.
At Quantum Scholars, we believe in the power of education to change lives—and in the global community of teachers who make it possible. Whether you’re a teacher seeking an exciting new role in England or a school looking to enrich your team with international talent, we are here to help.

We offer guidance on finding suitable accommodation, but it is ultimately up to each teacher to secure their own housing. We strongly advise arranging short-term accommodation (such as a hotel or Airbnb) for your arrival, and only securing long-term housing after viewing properties in person. Shared accommodation is a popular and cost-effective choice, especially for those relocating alone, and sites like SpareRoom and Zoopla are helpful for finding house shares or full rentals. Expect to pay £600–£800 per month outside London and £700–£1,000 inside London for a room in a shared house, with higher costs for private rentals.
We recommend booking your flight only after your visa has been approved and stamped in your passport. While it may be tempting to secure a low-cost fare once you’ve accepted a position, delays in visa processing can occur, so it’s best to wait—or, if booking early, choose a flexible ticket that allows date changes without heavy fees.
The most common international airports are Heathrow and Gatwick, both located near London. Unless your teaching position is in the north of England, we recommend flying into one of these two airports for the most convenient arrival and onward travel options.
To ensure full compliance before starting work, you must provide original copies of key documents including your CV (with no gaps), two recent written references, a completed application form, your teaching qualification, passport, visa (if required), two recent proofs of address (dated within three months), and a police clearance from your home country dated within six months of arrival. You’ll also need police certificates from any country you’ve lived in for 12 months or more in the past 10 years (aged 18+). Without valid police clearance, you will not be allowed to begin teaching.
If you're employed directly by a school—common for roles requiring visa sponsorship—you’ll receive a formal offer letter and forms to complete, with the full employment contract typically issued once all pre-employment steps are completed. This offer letter is legally binding, provided its terms are met, though you may not receive the physical contract until you arrive in England. For long-term supply roles through Quantum Scholars, a contract will be provided prior to starting your position.
Yes, if you’re permitted to live and work in England for over six months, you’ll have access to the National Health Service (NHS), which provides free or low-cost healthcare, including hospital care, GP services, and emergency treatment. Prescriptions carry a small charge, and basic dental care is also available through the NHS, often at subsidised rates.
Once you’ve secured long-term accommodation, it’s important to register with a local GP (doctor). You can find available practices near you by visiting the NHS website: www.nhs.uk/service-search/GP/LocationSearch/4.
Setting up a bank account in England can be challenging for international teachers, as high street banks often require proof of a long-term UK address. However, a convenient alternative is the online bank Revolut, which allows you to open an account without needing a UK address. Revolut provides a debit card that works similarly to those from high street banks, giving you access to ATMs and enabling both online and in-store purchases. You can start the process by visiting www.revolut.com, though you can only open the account after arriving in England.
If you prefer to use a high street bank, you will need to provide the following documents:
If you’re on a Skilled Worker Visa, your National Insurance (NI) number will be listed on your visa. For other reasons, you’ll need to book an appointment at your local Job Centre Plus to begin the process of obtaining an NI number, which is required for all workers in England. You’ll attend a brief face-to-face interview, after which you’ll receive your NI number, though the process can take several weeks. In the meantime, you will be placed on an emergency tax code, but any tax discrepancies will be corrected once your NI number is issued. For more information, visit www.gov.uk/national-insurance.
To calculate your tax, simply enter your salary into an online tax calculator. You can use the one available at www.moneysavingexpert.com/tax-calculator for a quick and accurate estimate of your tax liability.
We recommend bringing your own smartphone to England, as it can be easily unlocked for use with a pay-as-you-go contract. This allows you to use your phone for local calls and data. For short-term use, you may need to book an Uber from the airport, which can be done through your phone. If you prefer not to bring a smartphone, you can easily purchase a pay-as-you-go phone from providers such as Vodafone, EE, O2, Three, Giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, or BT Mobile.
